Lots of Best Buddies News!

Some exciting announcements from the East Greenwich High School chapter of Best Buddies!

Hi everyone!

My name is Brian Eagan and I am the treasurer for EGHS Best Buddies. The other officers this year are our president, Kim Whittaker, our vice president, Nicolle Anderson, and our secretary, Emily Halpern. I have a lot of exciting news to share!

As the school year approaches, we have prepared by holding fundraisers and promoting the club. Our first fundraiser took place today. Kim, Nicolle, Tessa Egan (one of our buddies) and I went "canning" at Dave's Marketplace on Divison Street. "Canning" is when we set up a station in front of a store, explain what we are raising money for and some kind passersby make donations of whatever size they see fit. All money we raise goes to the chapter and helps to fund future events, fundraisers, chapter dues, and a leadership conference that two members will attend next summer. Today we raised an absolutely fantastic amount of money – $303!!!! On the behalf of EGHS Best Buddies, I would like to send a huge THANK YOU!!! to everyone that came and supported us this morning, as well as a special thanks to Dave's for allowing us to fundraise in front of their store.

Our next fundraiser is a car wash to be held at Eldredge Elementary School (101 First Ave.) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. The car wash is historically our largest fundraiser. Members will wash cars for anyone that comes. We do not charge for the washing, all we ask for is a donation of any size. Anyone that stops by will have a great opportunity to see the main values of Best Buddies – Friendship, Fairness, and Fun – in full effect. We will really enjoy holding the car wash, and I'm sure anyone that comes will love seeing what Best Buddies is all about. Here is a link for some more information: http://patch.com/E-nQRv. Please make every effort to attend, you will be supporting a great cause!

We are always looking for new members. Both EGHS and Cole Middle School have chapters of Best Buddies. If you are a student at East Greenwich High School and are interested in joining, please contact either me or Kim Whittaker. My email is brian81896@gmail.com and Kim's is kim41596@gmail.com. If you are interested or have any questions, please feel free to reach out to either of us! I highly suggest joining, it is an amazing experience.

Once again, I would like to say thank you so, so much to everyone who has supported us, both today and in the past! The whole group is amazed and extremely grateful that we have gained so much support. I hope to see a great number of people at the carwash next Saturday!

Thank you,

Brian Eagan and the EGHS Chapter of Best Buddies!
