Hill-Top Creamery Reopens for Season

Yes, winter is almost over. A sure sign: Hill-Top Creamery has opened.

It has been a long winter and temperatures have fallen into the teens several times this March, but signs of spring are starting to appear in East Greenwich.

At 5720 Post Road, there's a big sign marking the start of warmer weather and it comes served cold — on a cone, or in a cup.

Hill-Top Creamery opened on Saturday this past weekend.

The popular ice cream stop for months has been counting down the days until opening day on its Facebook page, teasing new flavors like chocolate cupcake and coffee cake and posting pictures of the first ice cream delivery of the year.

Owners Frederic "Ricky" and Cindy Hoernle bought the business two years ago from the Bulawka family, who ran the local institution for ten years and made sure to keep prices low and sizes varied so families could afford more ice cream nights and children weren't forced to share from the same cone.

The shop is open from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
