Local Farmer Launches Kickstarter to Expand Business

Pat's Pastured of East Greenwich is hoping to get a food truck and food cart to expand its offerings this summer.

The folks at Pat's Pastured are known for their free-range eggs, pork, beef, turkey and more.

Whether you're stopping by at the Boesch Farm farm store or picking up one of their products at an area farmers market, Pat's Pastured has a steady business catering to people who want healthy and fresh local food.

Patrick McNiff, the "Pat" behind Pat's Pastured, is hoping to expand his business this summer and offer fresh, hot and to-go snacks and meals at markets and at the Boesch farm store.

To pull it off, he's going to need a food truck and food cart. The total expected cost is $25,000 — a lot of money for a farmer to raise. That's why McNiff is asking for the public's help in getting his venture off the ground with a Kickstarter campaign that has already raised $5,600 towards his $25,000 goal.

"Because we have received specific quotes for our food truck and food cart, we do not anticipate cost over-runs on this part of the project. The only challenge will be maintaining normal farm operations," McNiff said on his Kickstarter page. "Overall we are confident in the preparation we have done and in our staff who will manage this project. Provided we can secure funding, with your help, we do not foresee any major stumbling blocks!"
