Main Street Gets New Asian Restaurant

Raku Sakura at 148 Main Street opened last week.

After many months of remodeling, the space that was once Taste of China has reopened as Raku Sakura, a pan-Asian restaurant despite the Japanese-sounding name.

The restaurant, at 148 Main Street, features a sushi bar, Chinese food, Thai specialities and hibachi, although the hibachi is not cooked at the table.

Among the space's special features is a wall covered in stone.

Bar offerings include some old-style Asian-type drinks, the kind that come in special containers complete with an umbrella or two, as well as sake, beer, wine and other cocktails.

After Taste of China closed a year ago, renovations began inside. By the summer, the entire building was undergoing a significant facelift, with all new siding.

The building is owned by Jason Yau. His family bought it in 1995. In May, he told EG Patch that it was time for a change
