The East Greenwich Art Festival is also taking place as planned on Saturday

Tropical Storm Irene may have hit East Greenwich hard - many households were still without power Wednesday morning - but the will take place as planned this Friday evening.

Until yesterday afternoon, Eldredge School was still in the dark, but electricity has been restored to the school. Even without power, organizers said, the concert would have gone on.

The “doors” will open at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m.

The is also on this Saturday, organizers confirm. The site of the festival - - was still out of power as of Tuesday night, but as organizer Lisa Sussman said, “Art doesn’t need electricity!”

EG Patch will have more news and information about both events later this week.
