Symposium Books Moves To 1000 Division

Following its predecessor, The Savory Grape, Symposium Books has left 247 Main Street for space at East Greenwich Square at 1000 Division Street. They plan to open there by September. No word yet on a new tenant for the Main Street space.

From the Symposium Books newsletter:

We told you last month that we had big plans in the works, and today we can finally announce them. We are moving our East Greenwich store from Main Street, where we have been very happy but a bit cramped, to a spacious, more central location just a few miles away - East Greenwich Square shopping plaza (next to Panera Bread, Dave's Marketplace, Orange Leaf, etc.)  We are thrilled to move into this new space in August/September and to have more room for books but also to expand our selection of gift items, greeting cards, locally made products, puzzles, children's toys, etc.

In the last year or so it has become clearer that our customers are seeking a one-stop shopping experience, so we started adding more book-related and non-book items and they have been doing incredibly well. We soon found that our two smaller stores just didn't have sufficient room or suitable display cases to develop this new idea properly, so the search began for a bigger space. We are very happy to have found the space in East Greenwich Square that suits these needs perfectly. And here's the real kicker, there is plenty of parking readily available in the plaza so no more driving around looking for a space to pop in to visit us!

The space will take a month or so to do some small renovations, and then we need another few weeks to make it a bookstore. We expect to be open for business late in August or early September, and will of course keep you posted here and via social media.

Our flagship store at 240 Westminster St. in Providence will have all of your favorite items in stock in the interim. We have been working very hard to combine inventory ahead of this move so please do continue to shop with us downtown while we get "New EG" up and running.

Thank you for your business on Main Street and we hope to see you soon in our spiffy new store!
