5 Things: Candidate Debate This week

Here are 5 Things to know in East Greenwich today.

1. What would you ask the state rep candidates? The Republican Town Committee, together with EG Patch, is holding a debate between GOP candidates for the state House Dist. 30 seat long held by the now retiring Bob Watson on Thursday, Aug. 23, at the Varnum Armory. But we need your help! A portion of the debate will be asking questions that have been submitted on Patch. Send your question via email to elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com.

2. Buy fresh and local at the EG Farmers Market today form 3 to 6 p.m. The market features several new vendors and old favorites. Parking can be scarce around Rector Street, so park your car in the lot by Swift Community Center and walk across the field.

3. Everyone has something to say. Say it on Patch! Become a Patch blogger and share your area of expertise with the world ... or at least the Patch community. It's easy to start ... just visit the East Greenwich Patch blog page and make your first post.

4. Elizabeth’s on vacation: If you have any pressing issues this week, please email Asst. Regional Editor Patrick Luce (patrick.luce@patch.com), who will be helping out on the site this week.

5. It might not quite be Sunday's exceptional weather, but most of today should be pleasant under partly sunny skies and temperatures in the high-70s. There is a chance for isolated showers in the area.
