Chamber Expo, Fire District & More

Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, Jan. 26.


Fire District meeting: On tonight’s agenda is an update from the District’s planning board and the naming of a new member — David Dumas — to that board. In addition, there will be discussion of the fire station location project. The meeting takes place in Council Chambers at Town Hall starting at 7 p.m.

School Committee meeting: This is the second of four budget workshops that will be held by the School Committee, and they will be discussing the facilities budget tonight. In the library at Cole Middle School at 7 p.m.

EG Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting & Expo: At tonight’s event at Quidnesset Country Club, Ernest Almonte is the guest speaker. Almonte is chairman of the Defense Audit Advisory Committee, former R.I. Auditor General, and Former Chairman of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Republican presidential signing event @ Mainstreet Coffee: Members of the GOP Town Committee will be at between 5 and 7 tonight with nominating papers for each of the candidates. All registered voters (regardless of affliation) in the town of East Greenwich are invited to come and sign nomination papers for the five Republican candidates hoping to get on the R.I. presidential primary ballot. You may sign for one candidate, or all candidates. The election is April 24, but candidates only have until Feb. 2 to gather at least 1,000 certified signatures to be on the ballot. Signing nomination papers does not mean you have to vote for the candidate.
