Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, Feb. 15


Planning Board meeting: Tonight’s meeting will be devoted to a special workshop outlining general policies and procedures of the Planning Board. It starts at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers at Town Hall.

Beginning Band concert: If you want to hear early ensemble efforts, swing by Cole Middle School this evening at 7 p.m. for the elementary schools’ Beginning Band concert.

Fatherhood Summit: You are cordially invited to the First Annual Rhode Island Fatherhood Summit for fathers, professionals, educators, and service providers. The evening will take place at the Shriner's Imperial Room at Rhodes Place in Cranston and will feature keynote speaker Richard A. Claytor, Jr. who will be presenting Leading Fathers to Success. This event is sponsored by Father & Family Network of Rhode Island.  A continental breakfast and a light lunch will be provided. For more information about this free event, click here.

RI Chamber Hoops Night: If you belong to the Chamber of Commerce here in East Greenwich or anywhere around in Rhode Island, you are welcome to attend a special night of URI basketball. From 5 to 7 p.m., there will be networking in the South Concourse at. Then, at 7 p.m., the Rams take on St. Joseph’s in the sixth annual Pink Out. Wear pink and help raise awareness of breast cancer research and resource.  Presented by South County Hospital. Register with Southern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce at 401-783-2801 or online. LAX registration: Lacrosse season is getting closer but there is still time to register you child. The season starts in early April and goes to mid-June. New players are always welcome – no experience is necessary.
