Five (11!) Things: Blessing Of The Animals; Steam Up!

Yankee Steam Up:
This annual event is TERRIFIC fun, especially for kids and machine-obsessed adults. It takes place at the New England Wireless and Steam Museum on Frenchtown Road (at the corner with Tillinghast), from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

St. Francis de Sales parish yard sale: St. Francis de Sales Parish is holding its annual indoor Yard Sale on Saturday, October 6th from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., rain or shine. Items include jewelry, housewares, toys, games, electronics, CDs, furniture, books, and baked goods. Our kitchen will be open for refreshments. Join us for a great time and great bargains! The parish is located at 381 School St. in North Kingstown.

Multi-Family Yard Sale: One-street shopping, and some of the families will be donating their proceeds to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. At 170 Westwood Drive from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items include children's toys and games, bunk beds, small furniture pieces, small household appliances and tools, and an antique organ.

Tag Sale on Balsam: The tag sale takes place at 20 Balsam Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ryan Cooney at EG Free Library: Come to the East Greenwich Free Library today at 10:30 a.m. for Ryan Cooney's Songs for Children. Ryan will be playing a variety of songs for children of all ages. No registration required.

Massage Therapy open house: Massage Therapy and Wellness of East Greenwich has expanded! We are holding an open house to meet the therapists. Come enjoy some refreshments, a glass of wine, receive a sample treatment, or even start your holiday shopping early, as gift certificates will be on sale. Bring your spouses and friends! We hope to see you there!

EGHS Girls Soccer Team car wash: The EGHS Girls are playing their way to the R.I. Championship playoffs but first they are holding a car wash today at Ronzio's Pizza on Post Road. Come by and have your car super cleaned by the best girls soccer team in R.I. Only $5. Manning the suds and hoses will be the Super Seniors, Jammim' Juniors, Swingin' Sophmores, Fantabulous Freshmen ... even the Homecoming Queen! Come by and make your car look fly and contribute to a good cause. From noon to 4 p.m.

Blessing of the Animals: Join St. Luke's Church today at 5 p.m. behind Swift Community Center on the patio for Blessing of the Animals. If it is raining, the service will be held in St. Luke's dining room across the way. ALL ARE WELCOME! Animals refer to all the living creatures people bring to worship – such as cats and dogs, birds, reptiles, and fish, domesticated or wild. If you cannot bring an animal, bring a picture of an animal they love or an endangered species in the wild.Green Door’s fall preview: The Green Door, the venerable and wonderful Main Street gift shop, is having specials through Saturday, Oct. 6.

Avenger home games: The unbeaten Varsity Football team takes on Moses Brown in Providence at 2:30 p.m. For the latest information about EGHS sports, check out the Avengers Booster Club website.

Voter Registration ends Sunday! You have two more days to register for the Nov. 6 general election. Whether you are interested in who will be our next U.S. president or if you want to make sure you get to weigh in on our next School Committee, now’s the time to register if you haven’t done so already. You can go to the East Greenwich Police Station on Sunday between 1 and 4 p.m.
