Five Things: Beisel, Farmers Market & Teen Center

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Aug. 3.

Goddard Park Farmers Market: Get native corn and tomatoes, cut flowers, fresh eggs and more, today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Elizabeth Beisel final: The Saunderstown mermaid is seeded number one for today’s 200 meter backstroke final after placing first in the semi-finals yesterday. The race goes off at 7:30 p.m. London time, so 2:30 p.m. in Rhode Island. We will be announcing the results before NBC’s evening telecast, fyi.

Cruise Night: If you own a cool old car or simply like to drool over other people’s cool old cars, on Friday nights the place to be is the Crestar parking lot on Liberty and Greene streets. The D.J. starts around 5 and plays until 8 p.m. And Pop is usually there with his truck for refreshments.

Teen Center: For two brief hours, the gym at Eldredge School is transformed into a teen safe space, where nagging is outlawed and would-be three-point masters reign. From 6 to 8 p.m. every Friday. You just need to be a teenager to get in.

Great Graffiti Contest is tomorrow: The East Greenwich Housing Authority and the Town of East Greenwich are sponsoring the annual Great Graffiti Contest on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at London and Duke streets. The event is free and open to the public (rain date is Sunday Aug. 5). Join in, or come as a spectator – either way, it’s a great event!
