Five Things: Circus Smirkus! Needy Dog, Cats & More

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, July 15.

Adopt-A-Pet Open House: Animals are available for viewing and adoption today with the assistance of a dedicated East Greenwich Animal Protection League member. The open house takes place at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Individual appointments are also available.

Circus Smirkus is here! Circus Smirkus has rolled into Richmond, with shows today (at 2 and 7 p.m.) and tomorrow (at 1 and 6 p.m.). It just so happens several of the circus members are staying with East Greenwich families while the circus is here. So head on down to the Washington County Fairgrounds shows at the Washington County fairgrounds: Sunday at 2 and 7 p.m. and Monday at 1 and 6 p.m. The show is sponsored by Meadowbrook Waldorf School – click here to find out more information.

Glasswork by Alice Benvie Gebhart on exhibit: Alice Benvie Gebhart, co-owner of the on Post Road, has an exhibit of her kiln-fired fused glass pieces in the Maxwell Mays Gallery at the Providence Art Club through July 20. The exhibit, shared with Peter Aldrich, is titled “Scenes with Feeling.”

Opinions wanted: Are you the kind of person moved to talk back to the radio, newspaper or t.v. (driving your spouse or kids crazy? ... okay, true confession, that's me!). Put your opinions to good use – blog for East Greenwich Patch! You can write as often or as little as you want. You pick the topic. Want to learn more? Shoot me an email, elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com.

Weather: It's Sunday and the last thing you want is rain. But I gotta tell you, rain is what we need right around now. In truth, we could use a good soaking rain. We're not going to get that. But maybe a thunderstorm with some rain could come our way today. Here's hoping ... and if it comes may it not mess with your plans for the day.
