Five Things: Council, Market, & Nominations

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, July 9.

Town Council meeting: On tonight’s agenda is further discussion of . But, Town Council President Michael Isaacs stressed last week, this is not a public hearing. He said he wasn’t sure the proposal would go any further than tonight’s discussion and that he, for one, is now against the idea. Also on the agenda is the first reading of an ordinance change that would require a 4-way stop at the intersection of Rector and Church streets. Right now, only cars on Rector are required to stop. The meeting, held in Council Chambers at Town Hall, begins at 7 p.m.

EG Farmers’ Market: this season, with new vendors and old favorites. There will be live bluegrass music too! Parking can get crowded around Rector Street, so stow your car in the parking lot by and walk across the field. Then you can buy that cookie from Wild Harvest, June Love, or Seven Stars with NO guilt!

Use ‘Five Things’ as your own personal bulletin board: If you have birthday wishes, or want to say ‘Happy Anniversary’ to someone, go ahead and leave it as a comment on that day’s Five Things! I’m going to start it off today – see the comments section below for my message....

The LAST day for Readers’ Choice Nominations: So many categories, so little time left! If you have an idea for EG’s , its spot, our or any of the 22 other Readers’ Choice categories, please click here to leave your nominations. The nominations period ends tonight at midnight.

Weather: It’s going to be a lot like yesterday, with sun and warm temps but not (thanks, o weather god) too hot. Highs in the mid 80s.
