Five Things: School Comm., Town Council Meet

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Dec. 4.

Joint Town Council, Sch. Committee meeting: The two panels meet tonight in the first discussion of the 2014 budget (which goes into effect July 1, 2013 – yes, confusing). At Cole Middle School at 7 p.m.

School Committee meeting: Following the joint session with the Town Council, the School Committee will meet in regular session. The agenda includes action on grade configuration and discussion of the financial impact of the custodial budget. The meeting will begin after the joint session with the Council is completed, sometime after 7 p.m.

EG Chamber breakfast event: You are invited to Swift Community Center for  a complimentary realBUSINESS event with continental breakfast. The reality is that business owners spend the majority of their time working in their businesses instead of on their businesses. This means that many critical business planning issues go unaddressed. The realBUSINESS event addresses these issues head on. Real stories about real concerns told by real business owners. Hosted by Ed Quinn and Kathleen Brown-Heru, Legacy Financial Group. From 7:45 to 8:45 a.m.

Bianca’s in the final: Bianca Sperduti’s made it to the finals in the contest to open for singer Tyler Ward at a concert later this month. Bianca’s an amazing singer (ok, I knew her when … she and yet another amazing EG vocalist, Ellery Bonham, sang a duet at the Cole Middle School graduation in 2007). Click on this link to vote.

You asked, Patch answers: I'd like to start running this column. Do you have any questions about things in town – a vacant store, a broken sidewalk, a trash collection time – send 'em my way please!

What I want for Christmas: To reach 1,000 Facebook "likes"! As of Monday night, we had 939 ... won't you help? Click here for the link.
