Five Things: Planning (Board), Voting (for Bianca)

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Dec. 5.

Planning Board meeting: On the agenda is the preliminary plan application for The Stork’s Nest Child Academy, a daycare center at 3116 South County Trail, and final plan application of The Woods of Middle, a four-lot minor residential subdivision located at the end of Lenihan Lane. Also on tonight’s agenda is a recognition of Brad Bishop, former chair of the panel and now a member of the Town Council.

Bianca’s in the final: Bianca Sperduti’s made it to the finals in the contest to open for singer Tyler Ward at a concert later this month. The deadline for votes is 5 p.m. tonight. Bianca’s an amazing singer (ok, I knew her when … she and yet another amazing EG vocalist, Ellery Bonham, sang a duet at the Cole Middle School graduation in 2007). Click on this link to vote. Remember, before 5 p.m.

Patch’s ‘Deck the House’ contest: Are you a holiday house decoration nut, or know one in EG? Well, we’re looking for the most decorated houses in town to participate in the second annual Patch Deck the House Contest. The overall winner brings $100,000 to their school district, but runner’s up get up to $500 back on their electricity bill. So far, we have one entrant, Stanley, pictured here. His house is pretty terrific, but I’ve seen others in town that could compete. So, get involved. Upload a picture here. Or vote. If you have any questions, contact me (elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com).

You asked, Patch answers: I'd like to start running this column. Do you have any questions about things in town – a vacant store, a broken sidewalk, a trash collection time – send 'em my way please! Put “you asked” in the subject line if you can. Thanks.

Twitter anyone? Twitter isn’t nearly as popular as Facebook, but it’s really fun and quick. You can sign up and follow @egpatch and get breaking news and links to our stories and others that are of interest to our readers. And don’t worry, you don’t have to do any “tweeting” yourself if you don’t want to. Just follow along and see what the whole world is using!
