Five Things: Farmers Market, Cooler Temps & More

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, July 2.

Potowomut Member for a Day: Ok, this is something we should have told you about a few days ago, but if you happen to have the day free, give Potowomut a call and see if there are still tee times available. Make your own tee time. You can make your own foursome or sign up individually. The cost is $49 per person, which includes a cart. Here’s the phone number: 884-9773.

Farmers Market: After last week’s rain out, we are all in need of some fresh produce, meats, seafoods and baked goods. The whole gang should be there this afternoon, from 3 to 6 p.m. If you need a recap of the opening market two weeks ago, click here.

Bloggers Welcome … always! State Sen. Dawson Hodgson is one of our newest bloggers and he has a great first post on his feelings about his first term (warning – they aren’t sweet). We welcome all candidates to blog for EG Patch. And you don’t have to be a candidate! If you have something to say, we want to hear it! Contact me – elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com – for more information.

We Need Your Nominations! The new Readers’ Choice relies on reader nominations – if no one, for instance, nominates Felicia’s for Best Coffee Shop, it won’t make it in the actual contest. So, nominate your favorite coffee shop here and your favorite place for ice cream here. We have 25 categories total. My unofficial tally so far has us without nominations for these categories: Best Jewelry Store, Best Sports Bar, Best Appetizer, and Best Family-Friendly Activity. I’m going to swap them out if there are no nominations by the end of today … maybe they are dud categories for this minute and place in time! But if you do have something to recommend for any of the 25 categories, please weigh in. You’ll find the full list (with links) here. And thanks!

Goodbye Jerry Meyer! Jerry and his bride are heading to Florida for a new life. We aren't happy about it, but we wish them all the best in their new adventures! East Greenwich will be less without you, Jerry. Please don't be a stranger.
