Five Things: Farmers Market, Cruise Night

Trash pickup delayed one day this week: Because of the Labor Day holiday, trash pickup for the whole week is delayed one day. Friday pickups will happen on Saturday.

Goddard Park Farmers Market: This is a great stop before your weekend. Relish this opportunity to shop outdoors – fall is certainly in the air, and we know what follows! Off Ives Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cruise Night: Even the Providence Journal is touting our Cruise Night. Check out what it’s all about tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. Pops food truck is there, and there’s music too. Oh, and lots of very cool cars!

Teen Center: The Teen Center meets at the gym at Eldredge School from 6 to 8 p.m. every Friday. It’s an opportunity to shoot hoops, talk about music, or just hang. No invitation necessary.

End-Of-Summer Musical Picnic & Sing-Along Tuesday: Sing With B Music Together hosts a fun session of music-making outdoors at Goddard Park. Bring your own picnic and drinks, blankets and chairs, Frisbees, balls, instruments and requests for your favorite songs. They will bring their guitar and cookies to share. From 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Big winning ticket sold at EG Farms: Tuesday night, the $150,154 Wild Money jackpot was hit at East Greenwich Farms at 360 Main St. The prize has yet to be claimed.

Fireworks and the Navy Band: We all loved the fireworks, but they came so fast on the heels of the Navy Pops Ensemble’s final piece that the band never quite got the shout out it deserved for its great performance. “Movie Under the Stars” outdoor movie this Saturday: The Town of East Greenwich, with support from the Main Street Association (MSA) of East Greenwich, and the East Greenwich Chamber of Commerce, are pleased to announce that the third annual “Movie Under the Stars” outdoor movie event this Saturday at 7 p.m. (rain date of Sunday, Sept. 9), at Academy Field. This year’s movie title is “Jumanji,” starring Robin Williams, rated PG. Admission is free, and refreshments will be available on-site for purchase.
