Five Things: Liquor License Switch, Farmers Market

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Aug. 27.

EG Farmers Market: Head over to Academy Field at Rector Street to load up on fresh native fruits and vegetables, local fish, shellfish, and meats, and delicious baked goods, pizza, and tacos. From 3 to 6 p.m. Plenty of parking is available in the lot by Swift Community Center and St. Luke’s Church.

Town Council meeting: Brad Bishop will be sworn in at the beginning of tonight’s meeting. Also on the agenda is an application from Rok Bar and Grille to take over the liquor license from the Post Office Cafe. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in Town Council Chambers at Town Hall.

West Bay Chorale rehearsal: The West Bay Chorale welcomes new members to join us at our first rehearsal, tonight! No auditions are necessary. If you like to sing, you are encouraged to come and enjoy the camaraderie as they prepare for their December holiday concert under Artistic Director Amanda Santo. All voice parts are welcome and members come from all over Rhode Island. Rehearsals are every Monday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at St. Mark's Church, 111 West Shore Drive, Warwick. For more information go to www.westbaychorale.org

Calendar items: If you have something you’d like to see on the EG Patch calendar, upload it by clicking here and finding the “Add an Event” tab on the right. The Events Calendar is my go-to spot for the daily Five Things column. If you want to be featured in Five Things, make sure you post your items on the calendar!

Rested and ready: Yes, I’m back! I had a great time away (Block Island!) but I’m happy to be back – there’s lots to write about! My thanks to Patrick Luce for holding down the fort in my absence.
