Five Things: Odeum, Downton, Hockey

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Jan. 26.

Story Hour at Symposium Books:
Children (and their adults) are invited to Story Hour at Symposium Books . Every week they pick a new story and read it to the kids with animal crackers and fun. Favorite stories are "No Matter What" and "Jungle Explorer." Come early and help pick the story, and better yet, there is a 10 percent additional discount on everything in the store during story hour! 11:30 a.m.
An Afternoon at Downton Abbey:
Join the Friends of East Greenwich Free Library for a discussion of everyone's favorite show from over the pond - we will dish characters and past and possible future plot developments (spoiler alert - a primary character will die!). Other items on the dance card will be: a display of books relating to the era; a raffle of "The Unofficial Downton Abbey Cookbook"  and afternoon tea! Please reserve your spot by calling the library (401-885-1699) or emailing the Friends at friendseglibrary@gmail.com.

EGHS Hockey: The Icemen Cometh – Come watch your EGHS Avengers on Ice as they take on the SKHS Rebels in West Warwick. For each paid EGHS student admission, student will receive "Puck Bucks," good for future use at one of The Avengers Booster Bites Concession Stands back on campus. The first 50 people at the game get to grab a free spirit pom, compliments of The Avengers Booster Club. Don't be left out in the cold... Come watch the Avengers ice the Rebels! At 6 p.m. at the West Warwick Civic Center, 100 Factory St., $5 admission.

Odeum Grand Re-Opening: The celebratory event will feature acts including local favorites singer Phoebe Madden and flutist Skip Healy as well as trumpeter Ritchee Price, longtime lead trumpeter for Lionel Hampton, and others from around Rhode Island.
