Five Things: Our Elizabeth Beisel & More

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Aug. 8.

Welcome Home Elizabeth Beisel: Our own Olympic swimming star, Elizabeth Beisel, returns to the Ocean State today and at North Kingstown High School tonight at 7 p.m.

Historic District Commission meeting: The HDC meets tonight at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers. On the agenda are three residential applications, two for carport-garages and one for window replacements.

EG Food Cupboard needs donations: People are hungry all year round, Chris and Steve Bartlett of the Food Cupboard remind us. Items especially needed are jars of jelly, baked beans, canned fruit, tuna, peanut butter, and cereals. The food cupboard is housed at St. Luke’s Church. You can leave food there during normal business hours.

Six Steps to Small Business: In this two-hour seminar RI CPA, David Lucier will discuss starting, running, and selling a highly-profitable small business. Among the topics will be pre-business planning, start up (financing, budgets and numbers),
human resources (managing people),
operations (work flow, customers, sales), building a saleable business (and the sale), transitioning to life after business. This free event goes from 8 to 10 a.m. at 85 Centerville Road, Warwick.
