Five Things: Pets, Art, Frozen Clam Plunge

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Dec. 30.

Adopt-A-Pet Open House:
Animals are available for viewing and adoption today with the assistance of a dedicated East Greenwich Animal Protection League member. The open house takes place at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital from 10:30 to 1 p.m. Individual appointments are also available.

EG Art Club At New Hope: The East Greenwich Art Club is displaying its work at the New Hope Art Gallery on Power Street in Cranston. New Hope’s mission is to provide uplifting art by local artists & provide an opportunity to the residents in the care of the state to showcase their work. From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all week.

EG Food Cupboard needs donations: People are hungry all year round, Chris and Steve Bartlett of the Food Cupboard remind us. Items especially needed are jars of jelly, baked beans, canned fruit, tuna, peanut butter, and cereals. The food cupboard is housed at St. Luke’s Church. You can leave food there during normal business hours.

Facebook ‘likes’: Help me start the new year with a clean 1K Facebook likes. If you haven’t liked EG Patch on Facebook yet, click here. Thanks!

On New Year’s Day …

Second Annual Frozen Clam plunge: The Frozen Clam is a New Year's plunge to support Rhode Island Mentoring Partnership. The plunge will be held at 12 noon but feel free to get there a little early for mental preparation and to learn more about a fantastic organization. Spectators are welcome and donations will be accepted, or better yet, become a mentor. Last year was a blast!  Check out the recap here: http://laidbackfitness.com/2012/01/03/the-frozen-clam-a-hot-start-to-a-new-year/ This year we are asking "clam dippers" to register prior to plunging.  If you raise $100 you get a t-shirt!  Click below to register: http://mentorri.org/events.htm.
