Five Things: Primary Day, 9/11 Anniversary

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Sept. 11.

Anniversary: The terror attacks of Sept. 11 took place 11 years ago today. Here are links to couple of stories here and here we ran last year about people in East Greenwich who were affected by the tragedy. Do you have a story to tell about September 11? Please let me know: elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com.

Primary Day! It’s here, the first of a two-step process known as American democracy. You can vote, or you can sit on the sidelines and let others choose for you. If you aren’t registered, you can still register for the general election on Nov. 6. Here’s a link to start that process.

East Greenwich Girl Scout Registration: Registration takes place tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. at the, located at 1558 South County Trail. Girl Scouting is open to all girls from kindergarten through 12th grade, serving girls in the E.G., Rocky Hill, Cowesett and Potowomut areas. Women of all ages are encouraged to inquire about volunteering as troop leaders, as well. More information can be found at www.gsri.org.

School Open Houses: It’s open house season, with Hanaford up first tomorrow night (9/12). East Greenwich High School’s open house is Thursday, Sept. 13; Meadowbrook Farms takes place Wednesday, Sept. 19; Frenchtown School’s is on Thursday, Sept. 20; Eldredge’s takes place Thursday, Sept. 27; and last but not least the open house for Cole Middle School happens Thursday, Oct. 4.

Post your events on our Calendar: If you have something you’d like to see on the EG Patch calendar, upload it by clicking here and finding the “Add an Event” tab on the right. The Events Calendar is my go-to spot for the daily Five Things column. If you want to be featured in Five Things, make sure you post your items on the calendar! And, thanks!
