Five Things: Summer's End, Debate Questions

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Aug. 14.

Summer’s End – donations needed: Summer's End is rolling out their final donation drive before the big concert on Aug. 31. This year marks a lot of exciting changes to the program: the US Navy Band will be performing with local resident and nationally known singer May Pat Denci, the pre-concert warm will include music from local talent like the Headliners and the Hurricanes along with the EG High School Jazz Ensemble. If you have not already (or even if you already have!), please keep the music playing in East Greenwich and donate today! You can pledge your tax-deductible support directly online at Summer’s End, or mail your gift to: Summer Arts and Festival Organization, P.O. Box 1614, E.G., R.I. 02818.

Readers’ Choice: Time is running short – if you haven’t checked out the categories and placed your votes, you could miss out! The polls close at 11:59 p.m. Friday (that’s tomorrow!). Click on the main story and you’ll get links to all the polls we’re running. Take a minute and check out that main story … I’m pretty sure you’ll find one or two or three or even more polls you have an opinion on. Here are four that could really use more votes:

Debate questions please! In just a few weeks, we will have a primary to decide which of the three GOP candidates running for Bob Watson’s House Dist. 30 seat (he’s not running) gets to go on to the general election in November. but we need your help! Please submit your questions … about the EDC, jobs, state aid to education, the environment, or the many other possibilities … to elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com, or leave them in the Comments section below.

EG Food Cupboard needs donations: People are hungry all year round, Chris and Steve Bartlett of the Food Cupboard remind us. Items especially needed are jars of jelly, baked beans, canned fruit, tuna, peanut butter, and cereals. The food cupboard is housed at St. Luke’s Church. You can leave food there during normal business hours.

Weather: Kind of like Wednesday, but a tad warmer. Chance of rain is 40 percent.
