Five Things: Teen Center, A Concert & More

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, June 8.

Goddard Park Farmers Market:, which features vegetables, plants, meat, seafood, baked goods and more, is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Open air shopping – what’s not to like?

Hershey Track Meet: The EG Parks & Recreation Department's local edition of the Hershey Track & Field meet will be held at the High School Track. Registration will begin at 4:45 p.m. and the signature of a parent is required. The meet will begin promptly at 5 p.m. (In the event of rain the meet will be held on Friday, June 15.)

Teen Center: For two brief hours, the gym at Eldredge School is transformed into a teen safe space, where nagging is outlawed and would-be three-point masters reign. From 6 to 8 p.m. every Friday. You just need to be a teenager to get in.

Music on the Hill: features Rhode Island born-and-bred musicians who have established impressive music careers all over the country and return home to share their talents with the Rhode Island community they love. This year, our two-week festival is an homage to the season of spring. Tonight’s concert takes place at St. Gregory the Great Church on Cowesett Avenue. Tickets are $20 at the door. For more information, check out their website.

Summer sports camps: There are a boatload of sports camps offered in East Greenwich this summer, including boys basketball, boys baseball, girls basketball, girls softball, field hockey, co-ed running-cross country, co-ed speed and agilitiy, co-ed volleyball, and co-ed tennis. If you’d like to know more, check out the list on the EGHS page of the district’s website.

Playoff Action: In Division II softball, EG versus Prout was suspended once again from Thursday because of thunder and lightning. The game will be played – maybe! – at 7 p.m. tonight at Rhode Island College. Go Avengers!
