Five Things: Trash And Trick Or Treat

Your guide for life in East Greenwich today, Oct. 31.

No School: For the . If power is back on, school will be held Thursday (which had been slated as a day off). EG Patch will let you know as soon as we know.

Trash pickup resumes: Trash for Monday and Tuesday will be picked up today! Really. The remainder of the week will have a one-day delay. If you have storm debris, DPW asks you move it to the curb and they will pick it up as soon as they can. No yard waste will be picked up this week. Town crews will resume yard waste pickup once emergency cleanup is over. The Transfer Station will be open Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Halloween: That’s right, school may have been cancelled, but Halloween takes place tonight. If your neighborhood is out of power and that's just a little too scary for you, the Hill and Harbour neighborhoods have power, as does the area around Maplewood Drive, and the neighborhood behind Cole. I'm on the Hill (18 Prospect St.) and will buy extra candy – if you stop by, say hi!

Jam Night at the Greenwich Hotel: Come down and jam with host Brian Shovelton every Wednesday night at the Greenwich Hotel. No cover, 21 and over only. 9 p.m.

Debate video woes: I'm sorry to report that video from last week's General Assembly debates at the Varnum Armory is still not ready. Blame my four-day vacation back-to-back with super-storm Sandy.
