Flower Show, Office Hours & More

Five things you need to know about East Greenwich today, Feb. 24.

EG Patch Office Hours: It’s a change of pace this week — afternoon office hours! I’ll be at this afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. So, if you’ve got a scoop (happy face), a beef (sad face, but I can take it), or just need to see if I really am 6 feet tall (it’s true!), come on by.

February Vacation Idea: The annual R.I. Spring Flower and Garden Show is on and runs through Sunday at the Convention Center in Providence. If you’re longing for spring (and after the warm temperatures this past week, who isn’t?), this is an must. In addition to the numerous garden displays, there will be cooking demonstrations and lectures on gardening, as well as a marketplace to indulge a love of all things garden-oriented. There will be children’s activities too, including face painting and “bubbleology.” From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Teen Center: The teen center is just what it sounds like — a safe place for teenagers to escape their parents! Bob Houghtaling and a few other adults staff the event, held in the gymnasium at Eldredge School. From 6 to 8 p.m.

EGHS sports: Girls Basketball plays Prout at the high school tonight, with the JV game at 5:15 and the varsity at 7 p.m.

Weather: We have one more day of mild temperatures in store, if not quite as mild. Rain is expected in the morning, with a high of 47 degrees and a low of 32 degrees.
