Last Chance: Holy Egg Hunt

The East Greenwich Historic Preservation Society hosts its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday.

Events come and go all the time. How often do you wish you had heard about something special before it happened? That's where we come in. Each week East Greenwich Patch will post a quick reminder about the events, activities or important tasks whose deadlines have come.

Today marks the beginning of Holy Week. While there are sure to be plenty of activities at local churches throughout the community, the East Greenwich Historic Preservation Society is hoting a more secular activity sure to delight kids of all backgrounds.

The Preservation Society's 9th annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 7, beginning at 10 am at the Thomas Casey Greene home at 40 Old Forge Road, Potowomut.

Children up to age 7 are invited to hunt for candy-filled eggs on the grounds of this historic home, the birthplace of Revolutionary War hero Nathaniel Greene.

There will be two divisions for the hunt, for younger and older children.  The Easter Bunny is expected to appear for photo opportunities and the Preservation Society will provide collection bags and refreshments. The event is free, but donations are welcome. For more information, call 885-0315 or email EGHPS1677@cox.net.
