Need Some Kid-Friendly Activities This Week? Read On...

EG Patch has compiled a quick list of possibilities. If you have other ideas, please add them in a comment at the end.

It’s already Tuesday of December vacation week, but if you were too busy last week to research activities to do with your children this week, no worries. We have put together a few local activities and places to go.

Art Camp @ Figgy’s Art Studio: , at 5 Division St., is , Wednesday through Friday. Participants will explore different art techniques such as painting, sculpture, sewing, printmaking and much more. It costs $35 a day, which includes all materials. Call (401) 864-5269 or email ahead to reserve your spot.

A few EG Rec. programs: Several activities are full, but there are a few spaces left, including in the program Wednesday morning with the Audobon Society; a trip to Biomes Friday morning; and the Friday trip to the movies. To register, stop by. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Pottery painting: is an art studio where patrons can paint their own pottery. The shop fires it and you return the next day to pick it up. Hours this week are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday (12/31). They are closed Jan. 1.

Bowling: offers duckpin bowling - the smaller balls can be easier for small hands. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, it’s open 10:30 to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday 9:30 to 9 p.m. While they have leagues, there are always some lanes open for drop in bowlers.

Families Play Free @ Kent Co. YMCA: That’s right, if you aren’t a member and would like to try out the Kent County Y, you are welcome to all week long. That includes the kids gym (complete with a bounce house) and the pool during family swim. Not a bad deal.

Visit the Zoo: The Roger William Park Zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Dress warmly and check out all the fun animals.

Chances are, we’ve missed some great places to go or things to do this week. If you have something to add, leave it as a comment, or send me an email: elizabeth.mcnamara@patch.com. Thanks!
