A Tribute to Miles Davis - Doug Woolverton

trumpeter Doug Woolverton recreates Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue” on Saturday, July 12, at 8 p.m. $20 general admission. 

A Trenton, New Jersey native, Doug began playing the trumpet at the young age of 7.

Doug has been cultivating his smooth, soulful, yet energetic trumpet sound for audiences around the world becoming one of the most in demand, versatile trumpeters of his generation. In addition to touring with his own band “A Tribute to Miles Davis,” Doug also tours with the multi-award winning, five-time Grammy nominated, “Roomful of Blues.”

Performed live, his arrangements are exact. Solos performed by Doug and his band are not transcriptions of recorded artists, but improvised, showcasing each musicians true personality and talent, giving the show a very personal touch. Doug's desire is to bring his audiences back in time through a musical journey themed around the great Miles Davis. Performing Miles Davis’ hits from 1950-1990 including the entire "Kind of Blue" album. "Kind of Blue" was recorded and released in 1959 and is the highest selling jazz record of all time.

Doug Woolverton's Tribute to Miles Davis show is energetic, educational, swinging, passionate, and the sound of his 1947 Martin Committee trumpet makes you feel like you are on a musical journey and one not to be missed.
