EG Parks & Recreation February Vacation Sign Up

The East Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department is
offering four days of trips and activities for area children, in grades 1-6,
during the February Vacation break. 
Children may sign up for a whole day of activities or simply a trip or a
project. Registrations will begin on Monday,
January 27th
.  EG
Residents may sign up online as long as they have a preapproved online account.
To get a preapproved account, submit an online account request form to the
office prior to the sign up date.  For
paper registrations, get your form to the office prior to 1/27/14 as the office
will begin enrolling forms lottery style on 1/27/14.  Your best chance of getting your selection is via
the online process as classes will fill on a first come basis and the office
can only process forms one at a time. Camper-ships and reduced fees are available
for those on public assistance.  Flyers

Activities begin on Tuesday, February 18th with a
trip to the newly located marine biology center, Biomes.  Children will
explore various tanks, participate in hands on activities, complete activity
sheets, and even get a chance to see the baby octopi. The bus departs at 9:15am
and returns at 11:15am.  On Tuesday afternoon,
a trip to Monster Mini Golf in
Seekonk, takes place.  The children will
have fun playing on this 18-hole glow in the dark course. The bus departs at
1:15pm and returns at 4:00pm.



On Wednesday, February 19th, Figgy’s Art Studio will visit the Parks and Recreation program
room, where children will paint a piece of art on canvas as they learn various
art techniques.  This program begins at
9:00am and runs until 11:00am.  On
Wednesday afternoon the group is off to see The Lego Movie, a
creative animated movie using pieces found in the popular Lego® sets. Check

On Thursday, February 20th, there is a trip to
the RI School of Design’s Museum. Children
have on a guided tour of the museum’s highlights.  The bus departs at 9:30am and returns at 11:45am.
 Thursday afternoon the children will
play a few strings of bowling at Wickford
Lanes. 
 The bus departs at 1:45pm and returns at 4:00pm.



On Friday, February 21st children will work with
staff from the RI Museum of Science and Art to create Electric Dough at the Parks and Recreation office.  This workshop will focus on how to use dough
as a conduit.  The program runs from 10:00am
to 11:00am. In the afternoon children will Roller
Skate
at the Narragansett Ocean Club. 
The bus departs at 12:45pm and returns at 4:00pm.

Extended hours are available for children needing a longer
day.  The office’s program room will open
at 8:30am and close at 5:00pm for an additional $10 per day.  Children must participate in the listed trips
and activities, and will have a chance to play outdoors, play games and eat
lunch.  No alternative activities are
planned, so sign up now to secure a spot as space is limited.
