Moses Brown Ends Avenger Winning Streak in Shutout

The Avenger football team just couldn’t hold back the Quakers at home on Friday night.  It was a tough game to watch—several EG players were lost during the game to injury and quarterback Andrew Miner was roughed up by the Quaker defense.  The stands were filled with lots of EG fans including many former players who were hoping for an Avenger win.

The 1st quarter flew by with the Avengers holding their own down to the last few minutes of the quarter.  The Quakers were on the goal line, but were pushed back by a penalty.  They came back with a scoring play with 2 seconds left leaving the score 0-6 going into the 2nd quarter.  The Quakers came back to score 21 points in the 2nd quarter and 7 points in the 3rd bringing their total points to 34.  EG’s defense held back Moses Brown in the last quarter, but the offense couldn’t put up any points leaving the Avengers with a shutout loss to the Quakers.

Saturday saw redemption by the Junior Varsity team, when they traveled to the Quaker’s home turf.  A great afternoon for football with lots of fans for both teams, it was nice to see the JV team leave the field with a 40-21 win (according to some EG fans on the sidelines).
