Obituary: Beatrice J. Basler, 86

Bea is survived by her 6 children and 10 grandchildren.


Beatrice J. Basler was called home to God on Thursday, Sept. 13, in the presence of her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Basler.

Bea was born in Scranton, Pa., and married the love of her life in 1955. They moved to East Greenwich soon after and raised their six children there. She is survived by those children: Aaron and his wife Dr. Mara of Warwick; Dr. Grace of Warwick; Eric and his wife Barbara of Warwick; Mark and his wife Julie of Westminster, Mass.; Ann and her husband Larry of East Greenwich; and Dr. Stephen and his wife Dr. Kathy of East Greenwich.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Robin, Luke, Sarah, Dylan, Katie, Abigail, Joey, Cole, Faith, and Jacoby. Granddaughters Hannah and Megan predeceased her.

Bea was a devoted Catholic and an active member of the Our Lady of Mercy parish.

Her greatest roles in life were as a selfless mother who took great pride in raising her six children, and aa a devoted and loving wife to her husband. The legacy she leaves behind is one of faith in God, devotion to family, and optimism in life.

A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. at . Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at on Main Street.
