Obituary: Eleanor C. (Connors) Gallogly, 88

Eleanor C. (Connors) Gallogly, 88, formerly of the Seasons in East Greenwich and Harvard Street, Cranston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Nov. 17. 

She was the wife of the late F. Francis "Frank" Gallogly. Born in Newport, daughter of the late William and Julia (Murphy) Connors, she resided in New York City for many years before returning to Newport and graduating from St. Catherine Academy in 1943 as the class valedictorian. 

Eleanor graduated from the Rhode Island College of Education and was an elementary teacher in Newport for several years before her marriage, and was later vice president/treasurer of the James J. Gallogly & Sons Funeral Home until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Mark Church for more than 50 years where she served on various committees and was elected as a member of RI College Epsilon Rho Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education.

She leaves her children, Jane E. Gallogly of West Warwick, Ann M. Hogan and her husband Laurence of Alta Loma, Calif., William F. Gallogly, CPA, and his wife Sue of Cranston, and John P. Gallogly and his wife Catherine of East Greenwich; eight grandchildren – James, Breana, Alanna, Libby, Meghan, Kathleen, Matthew and Billy – and her sister-in-law, Sister M. Agnes Gallogly, RSM. She was the mother of the late James J. Gallogly, PPD (Ret.). 

Her funeral will be held Friday, Nov. 22, at 9:30 a.m. from the HENAULT - GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy Street (at 1342 Main Street) West Warwick. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. in St. Mark Church, 9 Garden Court, Cranston. Interment in the Gallogly Family lot at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Thursday 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Mount St. Rita Health Centre, 15 Sumner Brown Rd., Cumberland, R.I. 02864 in her memory would be appreciated. For more information and condolence, please visit www.galloglyfuneralhome.com.
