Obituary: Henry M. Dymsza, 90

The longtime East Greenwich resident is survived by his wife of 56 years.


Henry M. Dymsza died on Aug. 14 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Janina H. (Kaminski) Dymsza, four daughters, three grandchilden, and one sister.

He was a professor of food science and nutrition at the University of Rhode Island from 1966 to 1990, serving as department chair for 12 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, writing, painting, and was a passionate environmentalist.

There will be a funeral Friday, Aug. 17, at 9 a.m. at Hill Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Church at 10 a.m.
