Obituary: Mary A. Falchini, 89

Mary was the valedictorian of the first graduating class of North Providence High School in 1940.


Mary A. (Palombo) Falchini, 89, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late Bernard Falchini.

Mary is survived by her daughter Nancy Primeau and her husband Michael of North Kingstown, and her beloved grandchildren Robert Primeau of Providence and Mia Primeau of Lake Tahoe, California. Mary was one of nine children; her surviving siblings are Florence Silva, Albert Palombo and Margaret Christopher all of North Providence. Her late siblings are Edith Bucci, John Palombo, Nicholas Palombo, Amerigo Palombo and Angelo Palombo.

She lived most of her life in East Greenwich but also had a home she shared with her husband in Clearwater, Florida. She previously lived in Johnston and Narragansett. The last year of her life she resided at Harborhill Atria Assisted Living in East Greenwich where she especially enjoyed the live concerts.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Fourth Avenue, East Greenwich at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 28 followed with interment at RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home & Crematory, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick, prior to the mass. Information and condolences at carpenterjenks.com.
