Obituary: Mary T. Gianardi, 96

A spirited and joyful woman, Mary loved her family.

Mary T. (DeAngelis) Gianardi, 96, of Ives Road in Potowomut, died Monday, March 18, with her devoted family by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph B. Gianardi.

She was born in Providence, daughter of the late Albert and Theresa (Mainella) DeAngelis and sister of the late Rose Collins and Albert L. DeAngelis. She is survived by her daughter Janice M. Bucci – with whom she had lived in later years – and grandchildren Joseph A. Bucci and his wife Theresa, and Judi M. Robinson and her husband John A. Robinson, and great-grandchildren Anthony, Andrew, Victoria, Michael and Jennifer, who were the "sunshine of her life" and with whom she spent many happy hours.

Mary was a longtime resident of East Greenwich. After their retirement, she and her husband split their time between Rhode Island and a home in Hollywood, Fla. Family and love of life were her passion.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Home or Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island.
