Obituary: Robert F. Ranney, 87

Mr. Ranney was a WWII Army veteran.

Robert F. Ranney, 87, passed away Oct. 5. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gloria D. (Cusick) Ranney. Born in New York, N.Y., he was a son of the late Frank P. and Lillian (Fisher) Ranney.

Mr. Ranney was a former Vice President for Metropolitan Property and Liability Company, a graduate of Fordham Preparatory School and Notre Dame University and a WWII Army veteran. He was a past Grand Knight of the K. of C., Ave Maria Council and was a past member of the Quidnessett Country Club Board of Governors.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children – Bob, Frank and Terry Ranney and Carole Ranney Finn; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 65 Third St., East Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours are Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., East Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of Rhode Island, Philip Hulitar Center, 1085 North Main St., Providence, R.I. 02904.
