Obituary: Roger G. Allard, 70

Roger loved the students he knew, taught and coached.

Roger G. Allard, 70, of Tory Lane, East Greenwich, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Oct. 3. He was the husband of Paula (Minnucci) Allard, they had been married for 42 years. Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Roger A. “Nippy” and Fortunette (Levesque) Allard.  

He was a resident of East Greenwich for 32 years. Mr. Allard was a special needs teacher, principal and assistant principal in the Warwick, Cranston and Ponagansett School Systems before retiring after serving 32 years in East Greenwich.

He was inducted into the R.I. Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and a member of the “Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity.” He was a 1969 graduate of University of South Dakota, received a Master’s Degree in Education from Rhode Island College and an Administrative Degree from Providence College. 

Roger loved the students he knew, taught and coached. The interactions he had made a lasting impact on all who knew him. His greatest passions were traveling, playing golf, sailing, quahogging and entertaining. "He was my best friend and will forever remain in my heart," said his wife, Paula.

Besides his wife he leaves a daughter, Stephanie Allard of Coventry; a brother-in-law, John Minnucci and his wife Kathleen; a niece and a nephew. He was the best husband, father and friend. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Ave., East Greenwich. Interment will be private. Visiting hours in the HENAULT – GALLOGLY Funeral Home, 5 Eddy St., West Warwick on Monday 5 to 8 p.m.
