30 to 35 Lobsters Stolen from End O Main Lobster

The lobsters were cull lobsters, which means they only have one claw. That could be the key to cracking open this criminal crustacean case.

There could be some black market Rhode Island lobsters for sale after a local lobsterman company was robbed overnight Sunday.

Police said someone stole 30 to 35 live cull lobsters right from the dock at End O Main Lobster.

The lobsters were stored in a homemade floating dock next to F/V Sara D, secured by hatches on top. Police said the suspect pried open the hatches to get at the lobsters.

Lobsterman Harry F. Whilden said there is a security system installed at the dock but it apparently had not recorded anything for several weeks, according to a police report.

On their Facebook page, End O Main Lobster said they'd appreciate any help getting the lobsters back and pledged to not file charges if they're returned or paid for.

Police estimated the value of the lobsters at about $400.

There are several theories as to who stole the lobsters, including one that supposes someone had or is having one heck of a party.
