A Missing Big Screen T.V., A Fake $20 & A Woman On The Tracks

Monday, Aug. 8

1:35 p.m. - Two residents of Shippee Road told police that they had seen a shiny black Jeep with after-market chrome wheels drive down roads beside their properties as far as to the back yard. In one case, the driver reversed the car quickly and drove away after seeing the resident. In the second instance, the resident stopped the car. The two “teenage boys” in the car told him they were looking for a place to go off-roading.

Tuesday, Aug. 9

12:47 p.m. - A Watch Hill resident reported that her ex-boyfriend continued to send text messages to her even after a restraining order.

3:40 p.m. - A security officer for Federal Express reported that a 58-inch flat screen plasma television that was dropped off in the car port of a house on Brisas Circle was missing. It had been dropped of but not signed for on Aug. 2. The owner of the house then contacted Federal Express on Aug. 3 that she had not received the t.v.

4:30 p.m. - A Warwick woman told police that she wanted to press charges against her ex-boyfriend in connection with a lost Webster Bank ATM card and withdrawals made with the card as recorded on bank surveillance videos. The woman had reported the lost card to Warwick police in May. Withdrawals using the card were made from branches in Warwick, Cranston and East Greenwich. Four withdrawals in East Greenwich were made between March 2 and March 7.

Wednesday, Aug. 10

5:20 p.m. - A Warwick man who works at 5 Division St. reported that when leaving work, he saw a woman lying across the railroad tracks on top of a white blanket. According to the report, he yelled to her, “What are you doing? Get off the tracks.” The woman got up and walked north. Police searched the area but did not find the woman. They also contacted Amtrak and Warwick police to be on the lookout.

8:01 p.m. - A Providence woman asked police for an escort to the Post Road residence of her late husband (from whom she had been estranged) to collect a few possessions. The woman said that she did not get along with her sister-in-law, who was in charge of the keys to the residence. The woman removed the items in the presence of police and the sister-in-law without incident.

Thursday, Aug. 11

12:45 a.m. - Police cited an East Greenwich man for speeding and driving with an expired car registration after it was stopped on Main Street. The car was towed from the scene.

Friday, Aug. 12

1 a.m. - A Watch Hill resident reported that her ex-boyfriend had continued to call her despite a restraining order and several police reports on the matter. Police tracked the caller to a land-line phone in Cranston and asked police there to pick up the suspect.

7:49 a.m. - An employee of the high school reported that two screens and one window of a sports equipment storage shed had been damaged overnight.

10:58 a.m. - A Kent Drive resident told police that he had been harassed by the tenant of a building owned by his fraternal organization. The tenant has been asked to move out. The Kent Drive man said he wanted documentation of three separate verbal altercations because he’s worried the incidents could escalate. Later, police happened to see the tenant and he said he would not escalate the situation.

Sat., Aug. 13

4:07 p.m. - The owner of East Greenwich Farms reported that a man had tried to by some cigarettes using a counterfeit $20 bill. The store owner returned the bill to the customer, who left.

4:28 p.m. - A South Road resident complained about loud music and singing coming from a farm off Narrow Lane that sits largely in Exeter. The police sound level meter did not show excessive noise. The South Road man also complained about wedding receptions on the property and tour buses to transport people there. The building official was notified for help in determining whether or not the music is coming from property that sits in East Greenwich - if not, it’s out of EG Police jurisdiction.

Sun., Aug. 14

6:08 p.m. - A man from the Tipping Rock Neighborhood Association reported that someone had damaged two light fixtures at the entrance to the neighborhood. The man said he first noticed the damage on Aug. 10.
