Armed Gunman Holds Up Main St. Shell

The robbery took place Monday night around 8:45, police say.

A man holding a handgun robbed an employee at Main Street Shell Monday night, making off with “a few hundred” dollars, police reported Tuesday.

The suspect walked up to the attendant, who was sitting near the entrance to the garage, and asked for change, according to Det. Sergeant Jon Chirnside. The attendant and the suspect walked to the kiosk between the pumps where transactions are made. It was at that point, the attendant said, that the suspect showed a black handgun and said he wanted all the cash.

The attendant said Tuesday he was “stunned” by the events of the previous night and said it happened very fast. The suspect, according to police, was approximately 50 to 55 years old, about 5’8” and 150 lbs., caucasian, with black bushy hair. He was dressed all in black and smoked a cigar.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about the robbery to contact them at 401-884-2244.
