"The East Greenwich Police Department is pleased to announce the launch of our new Facebook and Twitter accounts," read a press release issued Friday. "In addition, it will provide a means for the police to seek assistance from the public in attempting to locate missing and wanted persons, as well as, keeping the community informed of any ongoing criminal activity," according to the press release.
The move into social media was largely undertaken by a student intern from the Criminal Justice Department of the New England Institute of Technology who has been working with members of the EGPD's investigative bureau.
