Fireworks Burn Pool Liner, Car Crashes Into Curb

Thursday, July 5

11:31 a.m. – A Main Street resident reported as many as 75 sections of wrought iron fence were stolen from the side of her house sometime between Monday and Thursday morning. The fence sections had been leaning up against the north side of her house.

1:42 p.m. – A Frenchtown Road resident told police a neighbor’s fireworks the previous night had fallen into his pool and damaged the liner. Police saw evidence of heavy fireworks debris in the pool, on his roof, and in his yard, as well as burn marks in the pool. Police spoke to a teenage resident of the people who live next door and told her to alert her parents to the damage.

Friday, July 6

7:27 a.m. – Kenneth B. White, 44, of Chatham Street in Providence, was arraigned on one felony count of larceny over $500 in connection with the theft of a dozen tools from Greenwich Insulation of Coventry in an incident that , during construction of the Pawtucket Credit Union on Post Road. Police now say White was the one who broke into a Greenwich Insulation trailer at the site.

8:42 a.m. – A home builder reported instances of vandalism at a house he’s building on Cole Circle over the past two weeks. The most recent, he said, was paint splattered over the walls. He asked police to check the area for loitering youths.

4:05 p.m. –  The owner of an Audi wanted police to document damage to her car when the door of an adjacent car hit it. According to the report, police said damage to the Audi was “miniscule” and no photographs were taken.

Saturday, July 7

1:07 p.m. – The EG Fire District called EGPD to document malicious damage done to a fire alarm at the new restaurant at 20 Water Street. The alarm had sounded on Friday and someone appeared to pry it open in an effort to silence it.

Sunday, July 8

12:02 a.m. – Police arrested David Colon, 24, of Ripple Lane in North Kingstown, for driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to a chemical alcohol test after he crashed his car into a curb following his departure from Siena Restaurant on Post Road. An employee from Siena had called police after the accident. According to a witness, Colon had been in Siena before the accident and a bartender there had tried to get Colon to take a taxi but he had declined. According to the report, Colon appeared to be very drunk when police interviewed him at the scene. He failed a field sobriety test. After he was read his rights and put in the back of a police cruiser, Colon became verbally abusive. At the station, he refused the chemical breath test. He was held for arraignment later in the morning.
