Missing Copper & Missing Jewelry

Wednesday, Feb. 29

12:12 p.m. — A resident of Lion Street reported water in her basement, which she thought was caused maliciously by her husband, from whom she’s separated. Friends had moved a washer and dryer from the basement the day before, but the woman said she was sure the water had been turned off.

Friday, March 2

6:50 p.m. — The driver of a Volvo reported that she was driving to her home in North Kingstown on Tillinghast Road when her car hit a deer. Police found the deer, which had two broken legs, and shot it in the neck, killing it. Police notified DEM.

Saturday, March 3

11:39 p.m. — A Watch Hill resident reported that her ex-boyfriend, Alexander Scibak of Cranston, had violated a protection order against him by calling her. Scibak, reached by phone, denied contacting the woman and said she was trying to set him up. After Scibak failed to appear at the police station for a prearranged meeting, police put out an arrest warrant on him.

Monday, March 5

1:12 p.m. — A woman at 1000 Division St. reported several pieces of jewelry missing. She told police she and her son had just eaten lunch at Taste of China and he noticed that the jewelry — which had been in his pocket — was missing after they’d left the restaurant. They checked the car and the restaurant but did not find the items. The woman said she’d been planning to pawn them.

Tuesday, March 6

12 p.m. — An employee of a cell tower service company reported that the padlock on the gate around the tower had been cut and four copper ground bars were gone. He estimated the cost of the bars to be $7,200.

Wednesday, March 7

12:41 p.m. — A member of Gold’s Gym reported that a woman he has a no-contact order on talked to him in a threatening manner at the gym. When police spoke to the woman, she said her membership was up this month and that she would be switching to another gym.

9:05 p.m. — Police got a report of a man passed out in his car; in addition someone had previously reported seeing the car operating erratically in North Kingstown. By the time police arrived, they found a man standing unsteadily outside the car. According to the report, the man had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The car was not on, however, and the keys were in the back seat. Police did find vomit on the driver’s side floor. The man declined medical treatment and his wife came to drive him home. The car was towed to their house.

Saturday, March 10

3:41 p.m. — A mail carrier reported an aggressive dog at a house on Kenyon Avenue. There were two large dogs, both unleashed, and one came at him aggressively. The resident told police the dogs, one who was visiting, were up-to-date on their shots.
