No New Rabid Fox Sightings; Animal Probably Dead, Say Police

Without treatment, rabies is fatal.

It's been four days since the rabid fox that terrorized the Frenchtown-High Hawk area has been seen. According to police, the animal is probably dead somewhere in the woods, though there is no confirmation of that.

Rabies is fatal without treatment. It generally progresses rapidly, with death occurring within days of the initial onset of symptoms, according to the CDC.

Frenchtown Park was reopened Sunday but police continue to urge residents in the area to be watchful. It is unknown whether or not the fox bit another wild animal. If you see anything suspicious, police ask you to call them at (401) 884-2244.
