Police Log: 600 Facebook Messages, Bud Lite Theft

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, Aug. 22

5:29 p.m. – Police arrested Harold R. Greene, 37, of Hill Farm Road in Coventry, for driving with a suspended license after he was involved in an accident on Division Street in front of 1149 restaurant. Routine checks of those involved turned up the license violation. He also reportedly did not have proof of insurance. Police issued Greene two District Court summons. 

10:43 p.m. – Police arrested Jennifer A. Gelinas, 27, of Staples Avenue in Warwick, on a Third District Court bench warrant after she was pulled over while driving south on Main Street because her car's windshield had a large crack. Routine checks turned up the warrant. Unable to make bail, Gelinas was taken to the ACI after being processed at the EGPD.

Friday, Aug. 23

2:04 p.m.–6:15 p.m. – Police cited five men man for soliciting without a license after they was found going house to house selling cleaning supplies on Middle Road, Birchwood Way, Adirondack Drive, Huling Road, Cindy Ann Drive and Sally Ann Drive.

11:32 p.m. – Police had a car towed that was parked in a tow zone on King Street. 

Saturday, Aug. 24

1:44 p.m. – A Mawney Street man complained to police about a woman who was harassing him on Facebook. Over a six-day period, the woman sent him 600 message via Facebook. He "unfriended" her but police recommended he also "block" her on the social network. Police also said he could pursue a temporary restraining order through Superior Court.

8:32 p.m. – Police had a car towed that was parked in a tow zone on Queen Street by the Fireman's Hall. 

Sunday, Aug. 25

1:30 p.m. – Police arrested Randy S. Maloof, 53, of Middle Road, for driving while intoxicated (second offense in five years) and refusing to take a blood alcohol breath test, after he was stopped for driving erratically on Post Road. According to the report, Maloof appeared lethargic and his speech was slurred. Getting out of his car, Maloof had difficulty maintaining his balance. He failed a field sobriety test so he was taken into custody. In the car, police found a brown paper bag next to the driver's seat containing an open plastic flask of vodka. At the station, Maloof refused to take the breath test that would measure alcohol content in his blood, a misdemeanor. He was processed and held pending arraignment.

2:02 p.m. – An Oak Dell Circle resident told police a North Kingstown man had violated a restraining order that had been put in place Aug. 20. The resident said the man drove into her driveway minutes before and waited there until he was sure she had seen him. She said he smiled at her than drove away. Police could not confirm the restraining order had been served to the NK man and were not able to reach him. 

4:44 p.m. – A Cedar Avenue resident told police someone took two garden hoses sometime between Aug. 17 and Aug. 25. 

9:02 p.m. – A Westwood Drive resident told police someone stole a six-pack of Mike's Hard Lemonade and 17 to 18 cans of Bud Lite from a refrigerator in his garage between 8 and 8:30 p.m. The garage door had been open.
