Police said they were dispatched to the area of Post Road near Grasslands Road at around 9:30 a.m. and found a Jeep covered in paint facing north in the southbound lane of Post Road and a black Chevy facing west on Grasslands road.

According to a police report, the driver of the Jeep, identified as Derek W. Maroni, 26, of 29 Updike Ave., North Kingstown, was heading south on Post Road when a car driven by an unidentified man turned left to turn onto Grasslands Road when he struck Maroni’s bumper, causing Maroni’s Jeep to spin around and roll backwards onto the sidewalk, striking a fence and a utility pole.

East Greenwich Rescue responded and both men said they were not hurt. The Jeep and Chevy both suffered heavy damage.

Police said three five gallon buckets of paint were in the Jeep, and a puddle on the roadway was driven through by at least three people who reported damage to police.

The state Department of Environmental Management eventually responded to the scene and covered the paint with Speedy Dry.

HARASSING CALLS
The folks  at Christ Church reported some harassing phone calls to police on May 30.

Police said the church reported a man has called the Needs Committee numerous times and is apparently upset about being turned down for help with a National Grid bill.

The man reportedly sounds intoxicated.

Police documented the incident.

HIT AND RUN
A 29-year-old North Kingstown woman told police on May 31 that someone bumped her Lexus while she was parked in front of Fat Belly’s.

The woman told police that the car was a white Mazda that backed up into the front of her car. She beeped twice to get the car to stop but it reportedly kept driving south on Main Street.

A check of the alleged culprit’s license plate did not return a white vehicle, nor a Mazada.

A description of the car was broadcast to surrounding communities.

Police said the damage was minor, consisting of several small scuff marks.

The matter was documented.

AGGRESSIVE DOG
A 52-year-old East Greenwich woman told police on May 31 that a dog charged her dog while on a walk near Maplewood and Silverwood drives.

Police said the woman was walking her shih tzu at around 9:20 a.m. when a large brown and black shepherd charged them. As the woman held her smaller dog, the shepherd reportedly umped on her and bit at her, tearing the hem of her shirt.

The shepherd’s owner reportedly arrived and removed her dog.

Police soon spoke with the dog’s owner, who said she acknowledged the incident but her dog wasn’t aggressive.

She was reminded of the leash ordinance and a copy of the report was forwarded to the Animal Control Officer.
