Police Log: Downed Mailbox, Felonious Thievery

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Thursday, July 18

6:33 a.m. – Police arrested Rory M. Smith, 23, of Derman Street in Rumford, on a warrant on domestic disorderly conduct and vandalism charges, following an incident at an apartment on Peirce Street July 16.  

9:25 p.m. – Police arrested Michael Patrick Ryan, 44, of Main Street, on felony charges of breaking and entering into a residence without consent of the owner, larceny over $1,500, and receiving stolen goods. The owner of an apartment on Main Street had reported a break in and several items missing July 1. An acquaintance of Ryan’s contacted police, and said he brought some of the items over to her home. The items were turned over to police and confirmed as the missing items by the victim. A warrant was put out for Ryan on July 17. Police found him at his ex-wife’s Main Street apartment.

9:51 p.m. – Police arrested Joseph F. Bradshaw, 26, of Vernon Street in Warwick,

11:10 a.m. – The owner of Filippou’s Twisted Pizza told police someone recently used a fake Filippou’s gift certificate at the restaurant. He said he knows it was fake because the paper used was not the same used by the restaurant. He said he thought an employee was responsible and he would take care of it, but wanted the incident documented.

9:57 p.m. – Police had two cars towed that were parked illegally on Queen Street. 

Saturday, July 20

7:04 p.m. – Police assisted at the scene of a downed tree limb on Division Road. The large limb snapped before a car driving on Division could stop, hitting one of the branches. Power lines were pulled and a fare began, but the driver was able to pull away and drive the car from the scene.

Monday, July 22

6:30 a.m. – A River Farm resident told police someone had knocked over his mailbox. Police saw tire tracks on the lawn and a car's side mirror lying on the grass. The resident said the mailbox had been intact at 10 p.m. Sunday
