Police Log: DUI Driver Strikes Cruiser, Couple Sleep, Leaving Teens Locked Outside

DUI DRIVER BACKS INTO POLICE CAR
East Greenwich Police charged a 32-year-old Warwick man with driving under the influence on Sunday after he allegedly backed into a police cruiser while leaving a Main Street establishment shortly after midnight.

Police said an officer on a stationary post in front of Blu on the Water was directing traffic when he heard a loud bang. It allegedly was Kevin R. Boucher, 32, of 940 Quaker Lane, Warwick, who was leaving a bachelor party and  backed his Ford Explorer into an East Greenwich patrol vehicle.

Boucher reportedly was unsteady on his feet and admitted he had been drinking but wasn’t sure how much he had consumed.

He later failed a field sobriety test and was taken into custody.

Police said Boucher also refused a chemical test and was issued a Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal summons. He was also told he would be getting additional traffic citations for the accident.

MAN ASSAULTS POLICE
East Greenwich Police charged 37-year-old Bryan Vincent Lima of 146 First Ave. with simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest June 21 after police said he attacked officers responding to a well being check when he and a woman allegedly left two teenage children to fend for themselves outside all day as they slept with the door locked.

Police said Lima and the woman were intoxicated when they responded to the apartment at around 9:30 p.m.  and it took five attempts before someone finally got to the door.

Once at the door, police said Lima was aggressive and lunged at officers before eventually trying to punch one of them.

Officers were able to restrain Lima and take him into custody after a struggle.

Lima is due to appear in court on June 27 for arraignment.  

LICENSE FOUND
A Warwick man turned over to East Greenwich police a driver’s license belonging to a Johnston woman on June 16.

The man reportedly told police that he sent the license to the woman in the mail but it was mailed back to him marked “return to sender.”

Police ran a check and found the woman had moved to a different address. Johnston Police were contacted and they tried to notify her but were unsuccessful. The license was then mailed to the DMV.

TOWED
East Greenwich police dispatched a tow truck to haul away a car from Carrs Pond Road near Middle Road on June 16 after it was parked in a tow zone at around 10:30 p.m.

Police said a black Hyundai was parked on the west side of the road in a clearly marked tow zone.

Bellville Auto Salvage towed away the car, which was also tagged with a ticket. 

LOOSE DOG
A loose labradoodle running around near Partridge Run and Middle Road was transported to North Kingstown Animal Hospital on June 17 for safekeeping.

Police said they were dispatched to the area around 7:56 a.m. for a report of a dog running in the road and the caller said it was bound to get hit by a car.

The dog had no tags.

FRAUD
East Greenwich police took a fraud report from an 57-year-old East Greenwich woman who said her father, also of East Greenwich, has been getting invoices for various amounts after someone stole his Social Security number.

The most recent invoice was sent to her father demanding $799.58 immediately.

The woman asked police to document the matter. 

NO TRESPASS
East Greenwich Police issued no trespass orders to four people who allegedly been causing numerous complaints at Regal Court on Long Street.

The complaints ranged from excessive noise to “certain individuals attempting to take financial advantage” of a man living in a apartment at the East Greenwich Housing Authority-owned property.

The individuals were identified by police as Jeffry Hallinan, Melissa Audet, Michael Nicholson and Brian Deyerle, all of East Greenwich.

Police said some of them might be incarcerated right now and those no-trespass orders will be faxed to the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.

GENERATOR VANDALIZED
A Pequot Trail woman told police on June 19 that a man pulled the spark plug wife off her generator, causing the plug to break.

Police said the woman told them that she wanted the incident documented and noted the generator could not be fixed, forcing her to replace it.

EGGED
A Forest Lane man and son reported an egging to their house on June 21, telling police they noticed eggs smashed on the garage door and driveway that morning.

It appears the damage happened the night before.
