Police Log: Falling Docks, Shoplifting Failure

Information about the following incidents was supplied by the East Greenwich Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.


Saturday, Oct. 27

8:16 a.m. – Police arrested Anthony Abeid, 30, of Richard Street in Cranston, for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped while driving south on Main Street and police noticed his car had an expired inspection sticker. Routine checks turned up the suspended license. He was issued a summons and his car was left in a parking lot.

Monday, Oct. 29

9 a.m.  –  Police had a car parked on Long Street near Castle Street towed for parking in a No Parking zone.

9:57 p.m. – Police arrested Brian Deyerle, 43, of Main Street, for violating a No Contact order after police were called to an apartment on Duke Street on reports of a loud argument. The woman who lived in the apartment said she was all right but let the police in. They found Deyerle, who admitted having violated a No Contact order against the woman. Deyerle was found to have multiple domestic convictions, so the violation was charged as a felony.

Tuesday, Oct. 30

9:23 a.m. – The owner of marina on Rocky Hollow Road complained that docks stored on the right of way at the bottom of the road had fallen over onto his property.

1:05 p.m.  – A shop owner on Main Street reported that a woman tried to take 10 shirts from her store by putting them in her large bag while in a dressing room. As the shop owner began to retrieve the items, the woman fled. Police and the shop owner were able to identify the woman, who they found down the street. No arrest was made since the woman left the store without the items. But police did issue a No Trespassing order to the woman for the store in question.

7:17 p.m. – Police arrested Richard Chauvette, 45, of Tampa Street in West Warwick, for assault and battery and disorderly conduct after a female companion told police Chauvette had hit her in the head and stomach while they were in the car together. The woman had a black eye, but she told police that was for something that had happened the day before. Chauvette was held for arraignment.

Wednesday, Oct. 31

8:30 a.m. – An EG Public Works employee told police a resident on Oak Dell Circle had interfered with them while they were working at the pumping station nearby doing clean up after the storm on Tuesday. This morning, when they visited the area again, they found debris scattered all about the road leading into the station. While there was no suspect in the matter, the worker wanted it documented.

1:58 p.m. – An employee of a South County Trail business reported the use of a company credit card by a former employee.

6:30 p.m. – Warwick police arrested Tanisha Miller, 33, of Ocean Street in East Providence, on an EG warrant. Miller had attempted to get prescription drugs under false pretenses. EG police picked up Miller and she was brought to the station for processing.
